Joe Biden: Complete Fool or Complete Success?

Joe Biden annoyed the crap out of me last night. I was expecting to disagree with his positions on the issues, but what I did not prepare myself for was a circus show with Biden as the main attraction. Biden’s performance was un-presidential and disgusting for a myriad of reasons. From his calculated Alinsky/Jones-style strategy to actively attack, undermine or interrupt every statement Paul Ryan made, to the constant childish gestures, sounds and facial expressions, to the outright disrespect Biden showed to the American people by laughing at serious and important issues facing this country.

If it’s even possible to be more of a fool than he already is, Biden succeeded in that last night. But really, what I want to talk about is one of the biggest mistakes Biden made last night. That is, throwing the intelligence community under the bus and outright lying to the American people.

During the debate Biden claimed that the Obama regime was not aware of the requests for more security in Libya prior to the9 / 11 attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi. Biden said, "We weren't told they wanted more security. We did not know they wanted more security there.."

These comments are completely contradictory to two State Department officials and the former head of diplomatic security in Libya. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) released the unclassified cables containing those requests and during Thursday’s hearing on the Benghazi attack, two security officials who worked for the State Department in Libya testified that they repeatedly requested more security. In addition two State Department officials admitted they had denied those requests.

"We felt great frustration that those requests were ignored or just never met," testified Utah National Guardsman Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, who was leading a security team in Libya until August. The top security officer in Libya over the summer, Erick Nordstrom, also testified that, “All of us at post were in sync that we wanted these resources," He went on to say, "In those conversations, I was specifically told {by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb} 'You cannot request an SST extension.' I determined I was told that because there would be too much political cost. We went ahead and requested it anyway."

Biden completely lied to the American people and contradicted sworn testimony of State Department Officials. He completely disrespected us and the men and women working at the State Department. The State Department never said the attack was related to the anti-Muslim video. We know that the intelligence community recognized it was a terrorist attack within 24 hours of the assault.

Set aside from this and other factual issues with Biden’s performance at the so-called debate, I think there will be one superseding remembrance from last night. Joe Biden has always been willing to play whatever part that is required to serve his master (in this case Obama.) He hasn't been effective at much during his career but for one thing I have to give him credit where credit is due. Last night Joe Biden succeeded at being a consistent, first class, A+ political HACK.
