We heard it time and time and time again. "If you like your current insurance, you can keep it." President Obama was really clear, as were his various surrogates throughout the media and in the Democrat party. But just like so many other promises that the President makes, this too was a classic bait and switch.
The fact is that hundreds of thousands of Americans who were perfectly happy with their health plans, and took Obama at his word, have seen their plans canceled. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the same will happen to even more Americans. The number they project? Millions.
Despite all of this, the President's Top Paid Liar continued to defend President Obama's false claim.
"It's true that there are existing health care plans on the individual market that don't meet those minimum standards and therefore do not qualify for the Affordable Care Act," Carney went on to say, "But what is also true is that ... Americans who have insurance on the existing individual market will now have numerous options available to them, and six out of 10 will pay less than $100 per month in premiums for better insurance."
Bottom line is that the President was very clear when he said Americans would be able to keep what they had if they wanted to. That is turning out to be completely wrong.
